THE GARDON: CANOEING/KAYAKING HEAVEN   

The river, with its unusually clear waters, follows its course as it peacefully winds through two hazy blue cliffs only to be interrupted by the incessant chorus of the cicadas. This is where the ’natural’ South provides its magnificent holiday backdrop. Whether you make your way down the Gardon from Collias towards the Pont du Gard, a majestic Roman aqueduct under which you’re canoe will silently slide, or upstream from Collias, where the gorges secretly loom, towards the Pont Saint Nicolas (12th century) past Baume, the ghost village, where even though only a few ruins remain (mill, inn, chapel, etc.) the past fills the air. The village of a hermit, of Montand and Vanel for a scene from the movie ’The Wages of Fear’ filmed along the serpentine path that climbs to Poulx. This place, once inhabited and today given back to the wild, is breathtakingly beautiful. Leave your canoe for a moment and explore its many prehistoric caves. Take a dip in its clear cold waters (no life-guards on duty). Relax on its shady beaches. Heaven was never this good…

LA BOUSCARASSE AQUATIC PARK   

Serviers et Labaume (8 km from Uzès on the road to Alès).
In Serviers and Labaume (8 km from Uzès on the road to Alès) For four years now, this theme park in the heart of the Bouscarasse forest is open to the public from June to September.
Swimming pools, tube slides and lazy rivers as well as waterways and small pools in an exceptional environment of water and greenery, offering a genuine place to just relax and take it easy. It is also an outdoor theatre with musical and theatrical events held throughout the summer season.
Not to mention the strolls to the snack-bar or the shops offering local products.

FISHING   

Fishing Halieutical Uzège :
The Gardon and its tributaries (Alzon, Seynes, Bourdic, etc.) provide numerous places and opportunities to both fish and enjoy the pleasant surroundings.

Capelle Masmolène private fishing was created in 1966. It is an artificial pond featuring three alders and covers an area of 4 hectares.
Water levels vary from 4 to 8 meters, the pond is restocked with whitefish (carp, roach, gudgeon) fry twice a year in order to maintain the carnivorous fish (pike, pike-perch) population at 12 to 15%.
Trout are released every year on a once a week basis from March to June.
