09 - The prison cells
From the Middle Ages up until the Revolution, there was a conflict of jurisdictions in
Uzes between those of the Bishops, the Dukes, the King, the Consuls and even of the Canons. This lead to many conflicts of interests. Each possessed their own prisoners' quarters. For example, those of the Bishop were to be found in the Clock Tower; those of the King were in the King's Tower. What now remains of the prison cells dates back to1854. An permanent exhibition on the theme of Liquorice is held here.
