01 - Place Albert Ier
The Tourist Office has just moved to the Chapel of the Capucin Friars built in 1635 on the site of a Roman temple dedicated to Augustus (eight of its granite Roman pillars were reused in the Ducal Palace). The Chapel is in the former Corn Market, renamed after the King of Belgium, Albert 1st, at the end of the First World War.
It was the burial-place of the Dukes of Uzès until 1789.
The tour starts in this lively,
sunny square. Opposite the fountain, take the narrow Rue Jacques d'Uzès leading between the Ducal Palace, on your left, and a number of small shops.
